Mark McGee is an award-wining journalist, communications specialist, and writer who cares deeply about his audience. He began in radio news in 1967 and moved into television news in 1981. He has been an investigative reporter, anchor, producer, and news manager. He was also a state correspondent for two major metro newspapers, a regional correspondent for several broadcast networks, and reported for two national wire services. Mark retired as a television news manager in 2009. He has since worked as an independent journalist, corporate communications director, and writing consultant. Mark is also a published author with three paperback books and more than 850 eBooks.
Mark’s primary purpose in writing his newsletter is to help people who work in the fields of journalism, media, and communications find ways to do their jobs in ways that are personally fulfilling and helpful to others.
Mark also wants to help women learn how to defend themselves effectively, efficiently, and legally. He does that through a Section about Women’s Self Defense. He has also added a Section about Managing Ménière’s Disease which Mark has suffered with for many years.
Guest articles and testimonials are invited on a limited basis as explained later in this section.

Self Defense
Sensei Mark McGee is a 7th Degree Black Belt and a 7th Degree Black Sash in martial arts. He has been training children, teens, and adults to defend themselves against physical attacks for 60 years. The Self Defense section of this newsletter is designed to help men and women in journalism, media, and communications defend themselves against physical attacks. The self-defense techniques shared also work well for children.
Ménière’s Disease
Ménière’s Disease is a rare disorder of the inner ear that causes tinnitus (ringing in the ears), vertigo (severe dizziness with nausea), and hearing loss. It affects about 0.2% of the U.S. population.
Mark uses his experience in journalism and health research to write articles of interest and help to Ménière’s patients. Thousands of people are diagnosed with this rare disease every year. Mark, who has had Ménière’s for many years, wants to help people find information about the disease that is well-researched and confirmed.
Theism
Mark used to be a ‘strong’ atheist — that was until he investigated theism using techniques he learned as a journalist. The Section on Theism is his newest and goes into detail about why he is now a ‘strong’ theist.
Podcasts
Mark will share voiced publications from time to time on a variety of subjects — including Journalism, Communications, Self Defense, Ménière’s Disease, and Theism.
Submitting Guest Articles and Testimonials
Guest articles and personal testimonials are invited on a voluntary (unpaid) and limited basis. Mr. McGee will consider each submission based on the writer’s credentials/qualifications. He will also edit for accuracy and objectivity.
The copyright for guest articles belongs to the guest writer. Guest writers should have some professional expertise in their field (e.g. journalist, news director, communications director, professor, doctor, sensei). If you submit an article taken from a book or other copyrighted publication you’ve written, a link to your publication will be included with your copyright. Copyrights are not given for testimonials unless the writer specifically asks for one because they plan to use it in other publications.
